About the Project

The Ingleside precinct planning project formally began in July 2013. The process is being led by the Department of Planning and Environment, in partnership with Northern Beaches Council and UrbanGrowth NSW.

We are using a process called  Precinct Planning to investigate the development potential of Ingleside.  The process analyses the development potential of a possible land release area taking into account the environment, economic viability, housing types, community consultation and infrastructure needs.

A Project Team from the three government agencies is managing the process outlined in the Ingleside Precinct Project Plan. The project is being overseen by a probity auditor and the Ingleside Probity Plan to ensure that the process is consistent and transparent.

The Ingleside Precinct Community Participation Plan will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the process.

Ingleside is located in the northern portion of the Northern Beaches Local Government Area.  It comprises approximately 700 hectares of land, with approximately one third owned by the NSW Government. It borders Kuring-gai Chase and Garigal National Parks, Warriewood Escarpment and Ingleside Chase Reserve.  The suburbs of Bayview and Elanora Heights are located to the north and south.

The main roads into Ingleside are Mona Vale Road and Powderworks Road.

There are existing detached homes on large blocks. Significant buildings include the Baha’i Temple, Monash Country Club, the Saint Sava Orthodox Church, the Sydney Conference & Training Centre, Hamaskaine A&S Gaulstone College (a private Armenian school) and two Animal Welfare League shelters.

Note: The boundary for the Ingleside land release investigation area has been defined by the Metropolitan Development Program prepared by the Department of Planning and Environment.

The above map displays an indicative boundary only.
